LOL! I think that Snape is just much more magically powerful than
Lockhart is :-). Lockhart is not much of a wizard, so even Harry's
Expelliarmus at the end of the book blasted him backward. Or maybe you
are right and emotions count. Snape obviously hates incompetence, and
hearing things like "you'll still have your Potions master when I'm
through with him" would anger him even more :-)! At the end of the
book Harry is also furious at Lockhart for being such a coward and a
fake, so there is a lot of emotion there as well.
