Geoff:
I hate to torpedo your idea, Steve, but you are obviously not familiar
with a UK July.
:-)

On average, July is the wettest of the summer months and often can
be anything but warm and sunny. The last two Julys over here have
been decidedly dull and damp. I've been away in both years in July
on holiday to the Isles of Scilly 28 miles west of the south-western
tip of Cornwall and each week was almost perfect, while the mainland
had rotten weather including gales and floods.

That's not to say that the 31st July 1980 wasn't a good day. It might
have been...

Again, December can be very mixed. This year, on the approach to
Christmas, we had vrey mild weather - Christmas Day was 8 C - and
on some days, warm sunshine. However, I must confess that 31st
December 2008 was pretty chilly and dull and I am writing these
notes at close to 21:55 and when I walked the dog round the block
about half an hour ago, the outside temperature was -1 C; this
however is most unusual for our coastal village.

So, as someone remarks in LOTR "Go not to the elves for they will
say both 'yea' and 'nay'", you could be right and you could be wrong.
:-))

Happy New Year!
