Yes absolutely. I think it was a mistake on JKR's part not to have
Harry keep The Elder Wand. Harry knows that if he dies a natural death
the power of the wand will be broken, but if he intends to live long
enough for that to happen he better have the most powerful wand he can
find to defend himself; because use it or not after killing Voldemort
in public EVERYBODY now knows Harry is the master of the Elder Wand.
And so every Dark Wizard pretender is going to be gunning for Harry
hoping to become the wand's new master. Harry is condemned to have an
interesting life even after book 7.
And besides, after 7 books everybody identifies with Harry so at the
end it would be nice if he was powerful enough to kick some ass.
