zanooda:

To correct myopia, cornea of the eye needs to be reshaped, that's what
LASIK does. Everything inside a human eye is tiny, so procedures like
LASIK (refractive surgery) require precision instruments and lasers,
in other words, technology. The laser cuts off layers of the cornea
which are measured in micrometers, imagine the precision needed :-)!

I suppose a wizard could try to change the shape of the cornea using
magic, but a wand can't be as precise as a laser is, especially when
the wizard doesn't even see what he is doing :-). I appreciate how
easily wizards cure wounds and broken bones, but it's not the same as
correcting myopia - I suppose they just have some charm that
accelerates the process of healing, so the wound is healed almost
instantly.

That's how cuts healing is described in the books, anyway, so it
really gets on my nerves when in the movies the kids are often shown
having stitches on their faces. In the books wizards don't even know
what stitches are ... :-).
