I like this thought.  If DD had believed in the prophecy, possibly he would not have told Harry about the prophecy, or he would not have sought out the Horcruxes and gotton Harry to search for them?  What exactly did DD do differently?  I suspect he would have hired Sybel and tried to protect the Potters and given Harry to the Dursleys in any case.
