Sorry, also wanted to add, I do not see a proof that Snape *wanted* to refuse and not go there, which to me actually refutes your theory quite easily. Snape did not want to refuse because he feared humiliation, he wanted this knowledge, so humiliation or no humiliation, Sirius just gave him what he wanted and Snape grabbed on it with both hands. Too bad of course that he believed his enemy and decided to act upon it with his own rule breaking, still does not look as "double bind" to me.
