Bruce:
That is a good point. Quirrel would have been one of the people they
were looking for and the name "Tom Riddle" always being with him
should have been noticed. They may not have known who Tom was, but
they certainly should have spread it around that there was "something
funny" about Quirrel. Even if it was only as a rumor, it would have
gotten back to Dumbledore and he would have known the name.
