[HPforGrownups] Marauder's map, Quirrell and related issues

I've been reading this thread with interest and have some canon to add.

Both Peter Petigrew and Sirius Black showed up on the Marauder's Map in 
Animagus form. It's a long quote, but it's in PoA Ch 17 - Cat, Rat and Dog. 
The trio exit Hagrid's with another person and Sirius Black charged and 
collided with them. Both were in Animagus form at these times.

Therefore, Petifrew would have shown up on the map if the twins had looked 
for him, or known who he was. However, another quote may help explain why he 
was not noticed.

In HBP, when Harry was trying to keep an eye on Malfoy, he had problems 
finding him at times and put this down to sheer mass of people. 'He could 
only suppose that he was missing Malfoy amongst the hundreds of tiny black 
dots upon the map.'
