I don't know how or when they should sort, but I almost think the sorting
should only be for the first few years. It seems like in the early years
they need the support and help because they are so young, so that the house
system helps them get used to living away from family, etc. But by keeping
the strict house system, they reinforce all the stereotypes which cause so
many problems. If they went to a different system for 4th-7th years or
5th-7th years, they might be able to undo some of the damage and learn to
work together.
