(note: with the new participants, perhaps it's time for the list elves
to remind everybody of the quoting rules? They work pretty well).

Sherrie:
With all due respect, if anyone is to blame for Harry being placed at
the Dursleys', it's Lily. The magic she used to protect Harry - an old
and deep magic - required the protection of her blood, her family.

Bart:
And, how many hours did Lily have to consider this? Minutes? Probably
just a matter of seconds, and the first priority was to protect Harry.
There really wasn't much time to consider

Sherrie:
Sir- She had 18 months. Lily & James were well aware that what they
were doing was dangerous & could easily result in their deaths. It would
be a poor magickal parent who wouldn't begin weaving the strongest
protective magick they could find around their child. The magick was
already in place- Lily's death was the trigger that activated it, when
it was needed.
what might happen several years in the future.

Bart:
The spell depended on Morty offering Lily her life in exchange for
Harry's. How could she have prepared for that eventuality in advance?
