***Family:
My parents live in Hamburg, about 45 km (what's that in miles?) away
from me.
Fortunately, Berlin, my in-laws home, is 400 km away. So I don't get
to see them that often.

Am married. For 11 years now, and I have two children Maike (9 1/2)
and Marten (4). Maike was a premature baby and as a result of the long
time with oxygen-deficits, she is slightly mentally and physically
disabled. But she makes great progress and I'm very proud of her.

house in a tiny town near Neumuenster, Northern Germany (Schleswig-
Holstein is the state) If you look on the map, it's north of Hamburg.

***Birthday, Place of Birth:
June 3rd, Duisburg, Germany

***Education/Job/Role in Life etc:
I don't quite know what to call my education in British or American
schools, so I'll just describe, okay?
I finished my Abitur- which means I went to school for 13 years.
Then I went to a kind of medical- school and became a Radiological
Assistant ( at least that is what we call it here- I'm the person who
tells you to stand still and hold your breath and then takes the X-ray)

After my girls where born much too early and ill (Maikes twin- sister
died after one day) I had to stop working and put all my efforts in
supporting my daughter, and then, her little brother.
I'm a full-time Mum now and don't miss my job at all.

***Other things we might want to know about you:
Politics? I think you could call it liberal, although it probably
means something slightly different down here. My religion is
Christian, not catholic but what we call Evangelisch, I suppose you'd
call it Lutheran or something.

***First contact with Harry Potter:
When the big hype about Book 4 began. I read 1 - 3 in German and
couldn't wait for the translation. After GoF I bought all  the other
books in English and read them in 2 days. Then I found HP for Grownups
and got hooked.

***Favourite Potter things (books, characters, ships, fics, objets
d'Art, general enthusing):
BOOKS: GoF, PS, CoS and PoA in that order. I have the books ,
including the school-books in both English and German. I read them in
both languages, but prefer English. OTOH, when I'm very tired, my
English gets dreadful.

***Extent of Potter obsession: dreadful, but nobody's
complaining. Of course they could all be co-dependents. ;)
I'd say mild obsession at the moment, but it'll probably be a lot
stronger same time next week
My kids don't leave me so much time as I want to have.

***Other interests/activities:
Apart from my family, I spend alot of time in an internet grief-
group, where I found a place for my little baby, which she doesn't
seem to have in real life anymore.

***Current/recent reading:
I just reread the hitchhiker- trilogy from Douglas Adams and the books
from Diana Gabaldon. Both in German, but with really good translators,
for a change.

***Current/recent listening: 
GOF- what else?

***Current/recent viewing:
no time for the movies, my kids don't stay with a sitter 


Important:

As I have said already, I'm German. English is not my native language.
I think I can cope most of the time, but sometimes I believe I need a
new dictionary to understand every undertone of what is being said.
So, when I get something completely wrong, just lead my to the right
path gently, okay?
And please excuse big spelling or grammar catastrophes. I do my best,
but I only use the computer after a long, tiresome day, so.....
