THE OLD CROWD - INTRO
***Name:
Rebecca J. (Anderson) Bohner
***Nicknames/IDs:
R.J. Anderson (fics, blog, and original writing), synaesthete7 (AIM, Yahoo!,
LJ)
***Age:
33
***Family:
Two wonderful parents living five minutes' drive away. Three older
brothers, all married and some with kids, scattered around the province.
Generous, family-oriented, non-meddling in-laws living on a farm 30 min.
away. Lots of nieces and nephews on that side.
Happily married for five years, to a man three years my junior (though he
doesn't look it -- or act it). Two sons, aged 3 and 1.
***Home
Split-level semi-detached brick house, ten years old and in excellent shape
but still undergoing frequent improvements (my husband enjoys renovating).
Located in a small, lovely town in southern Ontario.
***Birthday, Place of Birth:
March 23, 1970 -- Mengo Hospital, Kampala, Uganda, Africa.
***Education/Job/Role in Life etc:
One year of university, which I thoroughly enjoyed but quit nevertheless,
because you don't need a B.A. to write books and writing was really all I
wanted to do anyway. One year of Bible school in New Jersey with the
Friends of Israel. Worked ten years as a secretary but never really liked
it; got into typesetting and graphic design by accident and loved it to
bits. Now a homeworker, looking after my kids and doing occasional
freelance graphic work when time permits.
***Other things we might want to know about you:
Chronically apolitical. INTX (just barely on the J side). I'm a
evangelical Christian, but I don't believe in badgering people who aren't
interested in talking about it, nor do I believe in trying to force people
who aren't Christians to act as though they were, so no worries.
***First contact with Harry Potter:
Right after PoA came out, I read CoS and PS/SS in that order. It wasn't
until PoA that I really got hooked, though. At the time, the first two
books seemed rather sameish to me and not especially original or compelling.
But PoA blew me away, and the rest is history. I devoured GoF in one
sitting while nursing a newborn, holding the book up with one hand even
though I had a severe RSI in both wrists -- now that's dedication.
***Favourite Potter things (books, characters, ships, fics, objets
d'Art, general enthusing):
BOOKS--PoA, GoF, CoS, PS/SS in that order
CHARACTERS--Snape, Lupin, Ron, Mad-Eye Moody, Fred and George, Harry, Ginny
SHIPS--will read anything if it's good, but prefer R/H and H/G to H/H.
Dislike Draco on the whole, but have a decided weakness for good D/G fics.
OC ships welcomed, provided the OC is Worthy.
FICS--Too many to list, recs on my blog (http://rjanderson.blogspot.com).
Currently mesmerized by Liz Barr's "Girl Most Likely" (featuring the most
convincing adult Harry I've ever read).
***Extent of Potter obsession:
Eight finished fanfics in the "Darkness and Light" universe and three more
in the works, including an HP/Alias crossover I am deluded enough to think
is actually semi-plausible. Seriously considering getting up at midnight to
pick up OotP, even though there is no possibility whatsoever of catching up
on sleep the next morning and my husband thinks I can't possibly mean it.
***Other interests/activities:
See my LJ interests list (http://www.livejournal.com/users/synaesthete7).
***Current/recent reading:
Re-reading HP canon and the Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett more or
less simultaneously (which makes for some interesting parallels).
Otherwise, lots of Franklin the Turtle and Curious George.
***Current/recent listening:
Al Stewart's "Famous Last Words". The Best of Ed Harcourt. a-ha's
"Lifelines".
***Current/recent viewing:
Episode 3 of The Amazing Race. Episode Four of the online DOCTOR WHO
episode "Shada". Lots of Clay Aiken videos, for the umptieth time (my
three-year-old is addicted).
Good to see you all again!
