So how about you all? What treasures do you hope to find in book 5?
Well, I think this is going to come as quite the shock to most of you, who know how vigorously I ship the kids... :P
What I most want is more Marauders-lore. I am endlessly fascinated by the lives of James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. And the thing is this. Fanon just *hasn't* cut it for me. I really haven't gotten satisfied with the speculation, essays, and fanfics done about them *pre*-1981. So I'm thrilled that this is our Nimbus theme. I'd love to learn more about Lily Potter, Arabella Figg (*if* she is in that cohort) and others. The chapters I read most in GoF during the second half of 2000 were ironically *not* anything Yule Ball-related (I didn't even start virulently debating ship until December of that year, IIRC). They were "Padfoot Returns" and "The Pensieve". I find the immediate past history of JKR's universe fascinating, and really wish she'd reconsider her "seven-books only" mantra. I'd love for her to write one about MWPP.
I know we'll learn more about Snape, but I'm not fussed. But I would like to see where the house-elf and giant plotlines go, as I'm interested in the themes of racial purity.
I think that Lucius Malfoy has the potential to become more dangerous than Voldemort.
I also want to see more of the wizarding world. That was one of the pluses of GoF, when we learned that gee, there is magic outside of Britain! I hope this is the book where Harry visits a new place.
I hope that the death or deaths won't be too terribly frustrating.
And I don't mind Harry-ships as much as Hermione-ones, so I am very glad that all the Ron/Hermione we'll get will be secondhand. Thank heaven for small mercies.
Okay, that's all for now!
