THE OLD CROWD INTRO
***Name:
Emilia Monroe
***Nicknames/IDs:
Milz
***Age:
34
***Family:
I'm the youngest (and only girl) of 5 children. Mom's a widow and
lives with me.
***Home
Charlotte Hall, Maryland
***Birthday, Place of Birth:
October 30, 1968, Washington DC
***Education/Job/Role in Life etc:
Health care professional.
***Other things we might want to know about you:
I knit and garden.
***First contact with Harry Potter:
A few weeks before GoF came out. I heard about the series before
that, but I never thought much about it until a copy of SS was left
in the waiting room and I thumbed through it. (Yes, the child who
left it sent her mother back the next morning to retrieve it!)
***Favourite Potter things (books, characters, ships, fics, objets
d'Art, general enthusing):
PoA is my favorite book in the series, so far. Favorite characters
(other than Harry) are the Weasley family. Being an October baby, the
cursed opal necklace mentioned in CoS intrigues me...
***Extent of Potter obsession:
Er...ummm...no comment ;)
***Other interests/activities:
I'm a local history buff. I especially like researching those "creepy
old" houses and family grave yards in my area. It sprang from my
interest in the paranormal and just trying to weed out the urban
legends from the more legitimate activity.
I have two projects currently in the works: research on something
called the "Bucket's O' Blood" tavern near the Washington DC-Maryland
line and a field search for a house known as the Hatton Mansion which
was photographed in the 1930s by the Historic American Buildings
Survey.
***Current/recent reading:
Fiction: just finished re-reading "Brideshead Revisited" for the
hundredth time.
Non-fiction: A couple of ice cream cookbooks (I recently purchased a
Cuisinart Ice Cream maker, the kind that doesn't need ice cubes and
salt). "Dr. Atkins Vita-Nutrient Solution" by Robert Atkins.
***Current/recent listening:
Nirvana MTV Unplugged. Assorted Frank Sinatra CDs. Some classical---
especially waltz.
***Current/recent viewing:
Movies: Nothing new recently. I have been disgruntled after I read
about the "Cheaper By the Dozen" movie alleged remake.
Television: "Buffy" was my tuesday night mainstay. "The Guardian" on
CBS is the other. Must-see-TV for me is "EastEnders"...can't live
without the Vic!
