end of the house to Harry, and had just run to get him. I got the
feeling though that she hadn't tried to get him and make a run for
it. Maybe she didn't think she could get out of the door, but you'd
think that she'd still pick Harry up to protect him. ?

I thought, during the flashback scene in the movie, she *was*
holding Harry as Voldemort approached the room (I got the
impression it was Harry's room).
I seem to recall her holding the baby quite tightly, and I think I
recall green light starting to seep in around the door, although
I'm not absolutely sure of that.
However, a later scene (by which time I assume Lily and James
are dead) shows a wand pointing squarely at the baby, who's
sitting on what appears to be a chesterfield, or something
similar, and I confess I'm wondering how he got from Lily's arms
to there. If Voldemort was out to kill the whole family, he'd hardly
have been considerate enough to catch Harry as his mother fell
and then prop him up carefully before performing the Avada
Kedavra curse....
