Actually, although I love the casting of Oldman as Sirius, I thought I'd
point out that in OOTP, Harry does describe the15 yr. old Sirius as very good
looking.
It's in the Snape's Worst Memory chapter and Harry sees them in class taking
their OWLS and this is the passage:

"Sirius was lounging in his chair at his ease, tilting it back on two legs.
He was very good-looking; his dark hair fell into his eyes with a sort of
casual elegance neither James's nor Harry's could ever have achieved, and a
girl sitting behind him was eyeing him hopefully, though he didn't seem to have
noticed."

Anyway, I guess it boils down to whether or not one finds Oldman good looking
- it's all subjective really.
I am merely pointing out the bit from the book to dissuade the argument that
Sirius isn't supposed to or was ever supposed to be good-looking. Obviously,
Rowling meant for him to have been quite the looker while in school <g>

I think he is an excellent choice to play the role and I do think he's
certainly good looking enough. After all, he was 'very good-looking' at 15, that was
before he spent 12 years in a hellhole and got older. Both things leave their
marks ;-)
