Cellphones? (was Re: Update on the phone situation, happies to everyone...)

Of course. The cellphone. We do have one. However, that night it
was in the car, and there was no way I was getting out of my warm bed
to go out into the cold (where the potential burglars lurked) to get
it. I just had to convince myself we were perfectly safe, and that I
was graceful enough to be able to get out of the window, jump the
fence, and bang on the neighbor's door. Okay, not exactly. I
convinced myself that my HUSBAND was graceful enough to do that, and
that I was fast/skinny enough to run down the hall, grab Ginger, and
hide under her bed, all the while convincing her to be quiet.

;)

And of course, with the phone being in the car, my husband kept
taking it to work with him unknowingly every morning (at 7am - he has
an 8am class this semester), so I couldn't get in touch with him to
bring it back.

By the way, though we have a cell phone, it's usually only to call
each other on the way home from the store (or to use in a BIG
emergency in the store) or to get in touch with people when we're
away from home. Other than the obvious use of roadside emergencies,
of course. My husband and I have a natural hatred of cell phones
because of our jobs - he has come to the point that he tells his
class that if he hears one during a lecture, he will take it. And
then makes them sign a contract agreeing to that. He gives it back,
of course, but it's sufficiently embarrassing that they make sure to
turn it off in the future. I also remember hearing at least 2 phones
go off during my viewings of HP and LOTR in the theaters (and in
LOTR, someone actually answered it and talked to the person for 5
minutes!), and that was just amazingly rude. All in all, cells are
useful, but boy, are they annoying!

Jen (who doesn't have a funny descriptor this morning)
