Hehe I LOVE these books.
But I must say, they are definitely children's books.
I, at 16 who consider myself to be relatively
intelligent and have read Chaucer in its original
Middle English (with a little help from my mumsy
dearest), went through the first three of these books
in one afternoon. That, however, doesn't thwart my
interest at all. My sister simply *devoured* these
books, and she's 12. So, this might indeed be a good
book series for your son.
You would think that there would be nothing funny
about a book series titled "A Series of Unfortunate
Events", but the way Mr. Snicket tells it, its
humor-filled. And he has the coolest name, even if it
is a pen name. :D If you want to check them out first,
you can go to http://www.lemonysnicket.com and get an
autobiography of the author and excepts of each of the
books thus far.
