Uh, how about the polyjuice scene in Chapter 12 of CoS? With cuts.

If you read from the Christmas Dinner (about 7 pages into the 
Chapter in my edition), then *cut* from 'We'll meet you back here, 
alright?' to 'they sprinted in their socks up the marble staircase 
up to Moaning Myrtle's bathroom' (about 2 and a half pages later in 
my edition )

[with a line to cover - Something like After Harry and Ron had 
managed to sneak into the Slytherin Common Room, they realised with 
horror that their hour was nearly up...] 

then continue to the end of the chapter.

It shows Hermione off, it's got a funny punch line, and I think four 
year olds would probably like the idea of a potion that turns you 
into a cat if you get it wrong.

Otherwise, Phyllis's suggestion is a good one...
