Just to clear up any misunderstanding here, membership of the
Feedback list is restricted only insofar as we require prospective
members to verify that they have received and read the rules of the
group. It is important that folks realise that this group is not a
decision making body; it is, however, the appropriate forum for
discussing list policy.
Regarding an earlier statement,

Going against what I just said, but again in an attempt to clear up
any misunderstanding, there is no restriction at present on the
number of messages anyone may post per day on any HPfGU list. What
*is* asked is that messages on the same topic are, as far as
possible, combined. If you answer two or three separate posts on the
same subject line in a short space of time, it *is* possible to
answer them in one message.
I can assure you that the elves do understand the disadvantages that
moderated members labour under and that they are keen to see them
through the moderation process as swiftly as possible. Keeping
members moderated only increases their own workload; however
demodding members who haven't got the hang of things only adds to the
frustration of everyone else. Unmoderated members who then flout the
list's posting conventions are another problem. But not for
discussion here. Members' concern about this kind of thing was one of
the very reasons for the creation of the Feedback list. ;-)
