LOTR DVDs 'milking it' and HP DVDs

I'm doing some catch-up reading and I just caught a message referencing
the LOTR trilogy boxset has different specials and extras from the single
movie releases. :-\ As if the fact you'd have to buy both theatrical and
extended cuts of each movie (each version had different extras) wasn't
enough, now you'd have to get a third copy of the movies to be complete in
all the 'goodies'. Granted, they generally are considered *goodies* for
folks who like the movie cast/crew and other details.

Hm, if the HP DVDs had done the same thing (theatrical and extended cuts
with no redundant extras and they weren't so... lacking in details about
making the movies), would you buy the 'boxsets' if they had unique extras?
This isn't a question to be answered--hey, I'm finally clearing out my
inbox--but something to mull over for a bit because the HP movies could do
more than one boxset over the course of seven movies.

Heck, this isn't even including 'gift sets'--c'mon, the first LOTR EE gift
set had *bookends*, a good extra for a book-based movie.

I know it's costly to gather all the extras for inclusion but they could
also be a 'cash cow' to milk, which is why I speculated on would folk pony
up the money. I'm poor, so there's a part of me that's grateful I'm not
missing much but another part that really wanted to see more extras on the
making of and more in-depth cast/crew interviews.
