[HPFGU-OTChatter] Venting...and a Question!

Oh, poor Grindy! I'm sorry things didn't work out for you; may the next
time around be a better fit.
As for your question . . . my wonderful, kind, thoughtful, loving husband
only barely tolerates my HP, LOTR, and a few other fandoms, but he won't
share them. He doesn't 'get' fantasy and magic, or movies where there
aren't sufficient aliens in exploding bikinis. He won't watch the movies
with me (Potter *OR* Tolkien), though at least he doesn't leave the house if
I put one on. He does, however, know how much I adore them (though he
cannot fathom *WHY* I do), and he has gotten me all three HP movies on DVD,
and both versions (theatrical releases AND extended versions) of all three
LOTR movies; in fact, my 'Return of the King' extended edition is not JUST
the movies, but the actual Gift Box Edition, which cost something like an
extra $50 or so over the plain four-disk extended version, just because he
knew I'd like the 'thingy' in the gift box -- a miniature sculpted Minas
Tirith, even though he didn't know what a Minas Tirith was (it's a city/fort
set on the flank of a mountain, for the uninitiated; there was a great
battle there in the books/movies). He loves me! But he wouldn't have the
first inkling of what a Leaky Cauldron was, either. However, in almost
everything else, we're a very nice fit indeed. :-)

Subject: [HPFGU-OTChatter] Venting...and a Question!
Here I am, 29 years old, and dealing with another break-up with
someone who seemed so right and yet turned out so wrong.
I should have known it wouldn't work when I found out he had never
read a Harry Potter book. (I did eventually get him to read the
first three, but he wouldn't discuss.) At least I have the upcoming
Half-Blood Prince to look forward to!
Anyway... this brings up a good question... How do your
boyfriends/girlfriends/husbands/wives feel about your Harry Potter
fascination (or obsession)? Do they get into it too?
