Our's was much quicker and smoother.

I called the store a couple of days before to find out when
they would start handing out the numbers (we went to the
same Borders for OotP).

Turns out they started at 9am, so I made sure to be there a
few minutes before 9.

There was only one person in front of me, but she had
ordered 6 books, so I got number 7.

At 11:30pm we headed to the store and were on our way home
again by 12:10am.

Since we are all three a little too old for the games they
had lined up (our daughter is 13), a half our was plenty of
time to see the atmosphere, talk to a few acquaintances we
met there, and then line up for the book :)

Since I was the one to get the number (daughter wanted to
sleep in), I had first dibs on the book.

Read until 5:30am, and then finished the next day after my
daughter had her turn.

We constantly tell my husband to plug his ears so we don't
spoil him when discussing some plot point <g>.
