Our Borders party was good fun - we took several costumed 6-8-year-
olds (get this, a Daniel and and Emma as Harry and Hermione - and
they look the parts, too). They had some fun activities for the
little ones: wand-making, stories and coloring, lots of promotional
freebies, potion-making, bertie bott's tasting, a costume contest...
and they kept the cafe open the whole time, so lots of junk food and
coffee consumed. The store didn't get crowded until about 10:30,
and by midnight is was packed (I never would have guessed we had so
many Potter fans in this little town). They did a countdown and
everything. Because we got there early we had a good ticket number
and got our book within 15 minutes. All went smoothly. Everyone
was excited but polite.

For OOP I didn't do the midnight thing, so I found it a pleasant
thing to be surrounded by fellow fanatics. I'll definitely be there
for the last book, whether the kids go or not.

And as for the book itself..... wow. I was in such a tizzy after
finishing it with no one to talk to. My noble husband finally said
go ahead and tell me (I guess the sobbing concerned him), I won't be
bothered by spoilers. It helped, but still not as satisfying as
talking to someone who has actually read it. He is working on it.
I'm dying for my sister to finish reading it, because I know she'll
be in terrible shock, but may have some ideas similar to mine.
Actually, the first person I found who'd finished it was my 60 year
old mother. Got so wrapped up in it she forgot to go to church.
ANother one taken down the dark side by Jo Rowling. :)
