Yeah, I tried reading translations for the fun of it, no, was not happy at all by and large.

Translator without any doubt as far as I am concerned. Now I know he made series out of the books, I only read first three, but I find them hilarious, well written, tightly plotted, and I read them in Russian, maybe his later books are weaker, I do not know.
