Hi:
<<Lily might have been a Slytherin...
>I still want to know if there's a single Slytherin who is a decent
human being.>>
<<Well, since Harry was nearly one the answer's going to be "yes"!>>
I think we talked last month at some point about the fact that
the Slytherins are not necessarily evil, they are just ambitious &
cunning. Ambition can be a good thing, but it can also be used for
less than noble ends. So, I would say that there *must* be some decent
Slytherins. We just haven't met any yet. As a sidebar, my husband places
in Slytherin under all 3 Meyers/Briggs type test results that we talked
about last month (so they can't be *all* bad!!).
<<Cool Snape theory, though I hold firm to the view that Snape was in
love with Lily, (not her brother).>>
Hmm . . . the brother thing is interesting. If true, that would mean that
Petunia was perhaps the only all-muggle child of Harry's grandparents
(unless there were other siblings of course). Wouldn't Petunia have
mentioned a brother who was a wizard in her tirade about how her parents
favored Lily, the witch, over her, the muggle? No . . . I still adhere
to the Snape was in love with Lily theory. He can't harbor *that* much
hatred & resentment over James' Quidditch talent *or* even that James'
best friend Sirius played a life-threatening joke on him. I think there
was some unrequited love thing there.
<<Why did Sirius try to *kill*him? There must be some back story there.>>
I agree. There's more there than just "oh let's play a funny joke on that
meddlesome Snape." Sirius had to have known the joke had the potential
to end up with Snape getting killed . . . to do that must have been
motivated by something more than just schoolboy rivalry.
I agree Snape is a mystery man!
