I've also always been bothered at Hagrid's behavior towards the end of
book one. Up until the Forbidden Forest thing, Hagrid showed nothing but
protection towards Harry. And then his actions drove Harry, et. al. to
their eventual punishment. What's more, upon greeting them he says,
"You've done wrong and now you've got to pay for it." Now that's
cruel. Even if he may have been putting on an 'act' for Malfoy's sake.>
Matbe he is worried about finding out what is going on and this worry
surfaces in a very cruel comment.

Does the British edition also title Dumbledore as "Chief Warlock?" If
it historically is an insult, this sounded curious.>
