Hi, everyone, I just joined your Yahoo club.
Having become obsessed with the Harry Potter books, I recently found the
harrypotteranonymous e-group, read all the archived messages, and joined
it. There I was told about Paradigm of Uncertainty, www.fanfiction.net,
and this Harry Potter for grown-ups "club". Now I have finally finished
reading all the archived messages on
this very active list. All this Harry Potter web activity has led to me
staying up all night on several Friday nights, just because I didn't
have the willpower to tear myself away from what I was reading. Just
like the books!
To babble about myself in terms of some of the discussions that I
saw in the archive: I'm female, not a parent, not a teacher, not a
librarian. There are five cats and three humans living in my apartment --
once there were also two snakes but they died of old age.
I'm a COBOL pgmmer -- while I hope to retrofit myself into something
more modern and marketable, there is a large and important COBOL / CICS
/ DLI system that has basically no documentation except inside my head,
and it surely will take years to replace it!
I did the Meyers-Brigg thing (that typology was invented by Carl Gustav
Jung, so why is it called Meyers-Brigg?) 10 or 15 years ago, and was not
at all surprised that it said I'm an INXJ (X is half T plus half F). I
found that the way to match other people to their types was not to think
about each letter separately, but to read the 16 descriptions and let
it leap out at me: "Wow, that is absolutely a portrait of Rosalyn!"
Melanie's Sorting Hat put me in Ravenclaw (thank you!), which pleased me
very much, as I wanted to be in Ravenclaw. I figured that Gryffindor has
courage and I'm a coward, Hufflepuff works hard and I'm lazy, Slytherin
has getting one's own way as highest priority, and I have other equally
high priorities (despite being a Scorpio), and blue is my favorite and
second favorite color (1-robin's egg blue called turquoise, 2-royal or
electric blue).
