[HPforGrownups] Is Dumbledore right in the head?

I always figured his behaviour was a bit of a put-on, to make him seem 
harmless, or to make him appear more "human".  I am bothered that if he is 
supposed to be Harry's mentor, how come he isn't in the books more?  There 
are many times that Harry could have gone to Dumbledore to solve various 
mysteries, but he never thinks too, and Dumbledore never volunteers 
info.  Does that make sense?
