I presume this question means "how old was Peeves when he died." But this brings
up a related question---to take a page from Dumbledore, is "poltergeist" what
you are or what you choose to be? Can any irritating ghost be a poltergeist, or
are they a separate class of spirits? Was Peeves once a living person named
Peeves, or are poltergeists *not* standard "afterlife issue" ghosts? And is this
point relevant (I've no idea)?

My guess is he Apparated to the boundaries of Hogwarts, and walked the rest of
the way. Yeah, he was dry, but maybe he was late because he had to do the magic
equivalent of change clothes (dryspell?) or something.

Do you have children?
