I am sure that right now we are meant to believe it is just the fact that
the day starts at midnight and he is counting from he start of the day ( as
is Hagrid). But given the signifigance of the number 12 (see
http://www.i2k.com/~svderark/lexicon/number_twelve.html)
I think we will find out that Harry was in fact born on midnight ( but
doesn't know this). I think, and it will never be verified in the books
because it is not too risque for kids, that he was conceived at midnight on
Halloween (how can you get more magical than that) :)
