My guess is "Neither."  Sirius told Hagrid to take the motorbike
because he wouldn't be needing it anymore; Hagrid went ahead and
did that, because he needed it to get Harry where he was supposed
to go, but afterwards, being the kind-hearted soul he is, he went
looking for Sirius to return the bike because he =knew= how much
Sirius loved that bike, and he couldn't really have =meant= he
didn't want it back, he was just so upset over James and Lily . .
.

This doesn't necessarily mean that Hagrid was able to =find=
Sirius and return the bike before the "news" broke about Sirius'
"betrayal" of the Potters.  Personally, I'd be interested to know
where that flying motorbike is right now!
