Jenny From Ravenclaw responded with a compelling argument for
Dumbledore and said:

Hurray for Jenny! You are my new best friend for the day, both
for your pro-Dumby stance and your adept use of rhyme and
alliteration! "I ADORE MY DUMBLEDORE" is my new mantra. :-)
I've argued before that Dumbledore functions as a father figure
for not only Harry, but the books in general, acting as a sort of
moral compass around which the wider events of the Potterverse turn.
If anyone has to come off the list, I'd argue for Hagrid, only
because Harry, Ron, and Hermione function like parental figures to
Hagrid, rather than the other way around. Not that this isn't
empowering for Harry, but in terms of shaping his developing
identity, Dumby tops Hagrid, IMHATBPDO (in my humble and totally
biased pro-Dumbledore opinion).

Cheers!

"'Mad?' said Percy airily. 'He's a genius! Best Wizard in the world!
But he is a bit mad, yes. Potatoes, Harry?'
