Thanks for finding that. Looking at it now, I find that the
previous assumption many of us have had that Harry is seeing all of
this in his dream because of his scar may be a bit off; when Frank
Bryce is in the corridor listening to Voldemort and Wormtail, and
Nagini comes upon him it is all from Bryce's perspective. This is
why we have this passage: "...it was following the spitting, hissing
noises made by the cold voice beyond the door....Inside the room,
the cold voice was continuing to hiss..." This is what Parseltongue
would sound like to Bryce.

This is true; this is necessary for us to know that Frank Bryce
knows what's being said. In fact, this portion is from Bryce's POV
until the last two sentences of the chapter which are: "He was dead
before he hit the floor. [par] Two hundred miles away, the boy
called Harry Potter woke with a start."
In the next chapter, although Harry recalls the conversation about
killing him that was held between Voldemort and Wormtail, it is
never mentioned whether he was able to understand Nagini's words to
Voldemort. It is possible that, as he was not physically present,
he could not, but I think this could really go either way.
