While I think this would be a fascinating story, I don't think it's 
true. In PoA, when we first hear about Remus being a werewolf, Lupin 
says "I was a very small boy when I received the bite. My parents tried 
everything, but in those days there was no cure." If he did come from a 
long line of werewolves, it seems that they probably wouldn't be trying 
to cure him.
