I heard Harold Bloom on the radio (Morning Edition) this morning, and
again he bad-mouthed Rowling and Potter. Again he said the Rowling
ouevre is worse writing than Superman comics or some other low-brow book
that the interviewer suggested. Again his 'proof' that when he was given
a Harry Potter book to read, it said 'stretched his/her/their legs'
instead of 'walked' more than 22 times. So I Checked the Facts. In SS,
the phrase 'stretch his legs' is used ONCE, with Vernon Dursley as the
viewpoint character. In CoS, it is used ONCE, Harry thinking that young
Hagrid would have felt sorry for the monster in the chamber and let it
out to 'stretch its many legs'. It is NEVER used in PoA.

EVERY TIME I hear Harold Bloom on the radio, he says something that
isn't true (that the invention of the jazz solo resulted from IIRC Louis
Armstrong being such a fabulous player that the other members of the
band would fall silent to listen to him, that Gutenberg replaced the
scroll by the codex, that e-book can only be read by scrolling up and
down). I have yet to figure out why anyone takes him seriously.
