Think of a sleeper agent or mole. Existing in the Muggle world for,
oh, probably at least 11+ years pre-Harry, keeping a very low profile
during the Voldemort years. Then, if Voldemort DOES start to
influence/exert his power in the Muggle world, he'd be inclined to
discount any sort of Muggle threat. And she'd be in a good position
to... do a number of interesting things. Like a few words in the
right ears at the right time could produce interesting results.
Hmmm. Wonder what a .303 Enfield with charmed silver-core bullets
and a good scope would do to Voldemort?

It does make you wonder, doesn't it? But, wasn't Harry's mother
established as a witch instead of a Muggle? Hmm...

They do make sense. At least as much as my comparison of Voldemort as
Hitler, Dumbledore as Churchill, and Fudge as Chamberlain - and what
we're seeing as the beginnings of WW2. (Wizard War 2, as opposed to
Wizard War 1, where Voldemort was trying to take over.) (Of course,
Harry as the output of the Manhattan Project as far as Voldemort is
concerned may be a bit of a stretch.)
