I must admit that I'm confused by this. Why does everybody believe
Ron is going to join the Quidditch team? There's no indication that
he's ever really played, except up on the hill by the Burrow. Sure
he's a big fan, but I see no indication that he can play. Why would
he wait until 5th year to do it? He could have been a reserve or
something before if he's a decent player. I would think that if JKR
intended him to join the Quidditch team, we would have seen him play
at least a little bit.

Melanie:
We don't see any indication that Oliver Wood had reserve players.  I mean do 
we know anyone who has given indication that they play except maybe Seamus.  
I don't know I guess the only reason why we assume Ron is to carry on his 
brothers legacy oh who knows..it just seems rather likely.



I have to say, I think it unlikely that Ron would be on the quidditch team, 
and VERY unlikely he would be captain. I think that the overshadowing of Ron 
will continue, as it's a useful and interesting way of creating tension 
between him and Harry.

That said, I would very much *like* to see Ron on the quidditch team, as I 
think the poor guy deserves a break. However, even if he were, he'd still 
only be doing something his brothers had done first, seeing as Fred and 
George are on the team and Charlie is something of a legend.
