<GoF and I doubt Dumbledore lives past Book 6. Harry,

I'm with you in thinking that Dumbledore must and will die somewhere 
later on. But what seems completely out of way to me is his "passing 
the torch" to Harry. Harry may be a great wizard, he may have 
extraordinary talents and strengths, but, for God's sake, he is only 
15 years old by now. It's difficult enough for a personality like 
Dumbledore to hold the anti-V. community together, do you really 
think Harry could do such a thing.
If Dumbledore dies, there will be two torches to pass on. Being 
headmaster of Hogwarts and Leader of the anti-V. group.
IMO, McGonagall won't be the next headmaster, for me, it's Snape. And 
the next leader? Dunno, maybe Sirius? He would have the personality 
to do it, si maybe once his name is cleared...?
