The only real fault I see with your theories is that you assume JKR is
writing for children. She has said in interviews that the books will
get darker. She explained that parents have written her letters
asking her to not let the books get too scary but that she has to
write the books she wants to write. She already has in mind what is
going to happen. If she decides not to kill Harry, Ron or Hermione I
don't think it will be because it would be too scary for kids.
However, I do agree with you in some ways. I do not think that Harry,
Ron, Hermione, Sirius, or Lupin will be killed. I hope that Ginny is
not killed either but I am beginning to see that it is a definate
possiblity. I also think that Dumbledore will die in the series.
Like you I also think he will die in the end probably after a defeat
of Voldemort. I do think that it Cho will die, maybe in book 5.
