Transfiguration teacher (when Tom Riddle was at Hogwarts). Professor
MacGonagall, the current Transfiguration teacher, is an Animagus, a
cat...and she uses this skill as part of the Transfiguration lessons.
Based on this, Katie decided that Dumbledore must also be an Animagus
(how else could he teach that class?). Her theory is that
Dumbledore's Animagus is a phoenix, and that this is in someway
related to the title of the next book...she said that maybe
Dumbledore is the head of the Order of the Phoenix because of this
ability (she actually said he was 'the boss of the club', after I
explained what an order was...but I got the idea).

You daughter must be brilliant. When I was 7, I think I was reading
the Mr. Men series... And now, as a 23yr old I have graduated to
Harry Potter. Well, here is my take on "the order of the Phoenix". I
assume sombody has already mentioned this, but all I have found is
theories about Dumbledore and "animagi". I figured "the order of the
Phoenix", relates to the feathers within both Harry and Voldemort's
wand. Dumbledore, doubtlessly is a member of this "order" as he owns
the same Phoenix that powered V & H's wand. Perhaps the mythical
creature that powers the wand, which in turn "chooses its wizard or
witch", bears some significance; a significance that parallels the
personality determinancy of the Houses (griff-Raven-Huff-good /Slyth-
evil). That the Phoenix binds Potter, Dumbledore, Voldemore seems to
imply that Power and Greatness follows from belonging to
the "order". Voldemore has never attacked Dumbledore, might we
assume that both wield Phoenix wands; their wands would be "brothers"
and therefore, "would not work properly against one another"?
I doubt that animagi has anything to do with the character of
dumbledore.
