Now *this* makes sense.

My fear was that if Lily was a Seer she was like the best Seer, who 
made Trelawney look sick [not terribly difficult, but I was thinking 
extreme contrast].

This makes sense.

I think Harry just believes what Dumbledore tells him  -- that his 
scar connects him to Voldemort, so his dreams occasionally give him 
clues.

next year, though, I have a guess he'll be beginning to see things on 
his own.  He's always been somewhat perceptive but he'll be 15.

That's when a lot of kids begin to come into their own [and Harry's 
got a head start on that magically, but not as a person entirely].
