Harry's Birthday: FAQs are Available for Viewing

Hi everyone --

In honor of Harry's birthday, I'm pleased to make the long-awaited
announcement that the FAQs (which are about 60% complete at this point)
are available for viewing at the following:

Many of you will notice that this is part of Steve's HP Lexicon site.
Many thanks to Steve for his work in getting the FAQs set up on a
website (and many thanks are also due to his co-conspirator Paul Kippes
for his technical assistance).

I want to personally thank all the members of the FAQ group for their
hard work -- it's been no small effort to slog through what is now
approaching 30,000 messages (7500 from our old Yahoo Club days, plus the
22000+ from this group).  We've been at this since last fall, and while
it's taken loads more time than any of us expected, I hope you will all
find it was worth the wait.  The people who deserve the credit (or the
blame as the case may be): me, Neil Ward, Simon Branford, Heidi Tandy
(who has a co-helper on one FAQ, Cassandra Claire), Ebony Thomas, Carole
Estes, Mike Gray, Jim Flanagan, John Walton, Amy Z & Caius (and Steve
and Paul were our technical support as I mentioned).

What are the FAQs you ask?  Well, go & see for yourselves, but in short
they are topical essays (most quite lengthy) that address what's known
from canon & chats on a particular topic or character & what's been
discussed & debated by our group's members since the group was formed in
Oct 1999.

Now, a word of caution.  As I said, not all the FAQs are completed (most
all of the ones that are not completed are in some stage of completion
though).  We will continue to upload FAQs as they are completed, and
we'll try to send a message to the group each time the site is updated
with a new FAQ.

As for errors in what is there: I noticed that Steve has not uploaded
the most recent version of the Fanfic FAQ, but that should be fixed
later today.  I also know that the Weasley Family FAQ is ready and
should also go up later today.  And, yes, there is a Malfoy FAQ to come
as well (not reflected in the index I noticed this morning).

So, with that said: go forth, read, enjoy & come back & discuss,
discuss, discuss!!!
