Animagus vs. Transfigured (Malfoy)

I feel ashamed for not noticing these points everyone has brought 
up.  However, I thought that Malfoy remembered being transfigured.  
Didn't "Moody" imply as much? I probably am misreading, though...

PS- I find it highly unlikely that animagi size correlates to power. 
McGonall can't be weaker than Sirius.  Further, use the group's 
logic: If Krum was a shark animagi (because if he was tranfigured he 
would not have his human mind to perform the tasks), then he would be 
around 10 feet long, which means he would be stronger than 
McGonagall, Sirius, James and Peter.  (Although I know he didn't 
fully transform, getting "shark" still would be relevant).  I think 
instead that it reflected his character- a sleek and powerful hunter: 
i.e. seeker.
