Hello, Ive been a member for a few weeks but never
posted before, but thought Id try to answer why
Dumbledore didnt give baby Harry to Sirius

 That IS a puzzle. Especially since Sirius was right
there, and GAVE Hagrid the motorcycle, saying he
wouldn't need it. Didn't Hagrid and Dumbledore think
that was odd?

I think that Hagrid had strict orders from Dumbledore
to bring Harry to him. Even though Hagrid probably
didnt know that Sirius was a traitor, or at least it
seemed so at the time, Dumbledore must have thought
so, since he didnt know about the secret keeper
switch. Therefore its only logical that Dumbledore
told Hagrid not to give Harry to Sirius. The
conversation in The Three Broomsticks in PoA suggests
that Hagrid didnt know anything about Sirius alleged
treason, so he didnt suspect anything was wrong with
him, but of course did what Dumbledore told him
anyway. And even if Sirius hadnt committed the
murders, though he never did, he still was under
suspicion as a traitor after Lily and James were
killed and Dumbledore of course thought that Harry
would be killed as well if Sirius got him.
