Thos bings up something I've been thinking about for a while: *Why*
did the Dementor perform the Kiss on Crouch? One might also wonder why
they tried to give Harry the Kiss in PoA. I wonder how perceptive and
how knowledgeable the Demntors actually are. If they're secretly in
league with LV (or at least highly sympathetic to same), then both the
kiss on Crouch Jr. and the attempted kiss on Harry make sense: the
first because he might be forced to give away various secrets (as he
had in fact already done), the second because, well, he's Harry
Potter.
