I think you might be closing in on it...but I think it is Quirrell who
reeks, not Voldy. I believe that he stops bathing once Voldy possesses
him. I think the conversation would take a nasty dive downward it I
were to explain my reasoning....so I will leave it here.

Somebody was asking how Q brought V into the country w/o being
possessed. I believe Quirrell brought Voldy to Hogwarts in a snake.
That was the creature Voldemort preferred to posses.
