> I'm sorry, but I always wonder about this whenever it gets raised
because, well, Ginny was *unconscious* during the entire battle
between Harry & Riddle in the Chamber. She says that the last thing
she remembers before losing consciousness was Riddle coming out of
the diary. So, I guess I'm always perplexed about this so-
called "bond" between them.

I'm not sure if Penny is answering my point or Christine's, but the
logic does go through a dog-leg. I'm with Penny that AFAWK Ginny's
experience (even if she had extended discussions with Riddle) doesn't
necessarily give her a deeper understanding of Harry, or a 'bond'
with him (or Voldemort) in that sense.
What I meant was that Ginny has symbolically been placed in
relationship to Voldemort-Riddle in COS. This (in my argument) gives
her a symbolical relationship to Harry which may well be exploited in
future books. This was really what I was referring to in saying
Devin was 'on to something' - not any implications for a romantic
relationship.
BTW, in my reply to Laura I inadvertently anticipated Philip Nel's
discussion question on gender. I have already jumped the gun on
rules in the Potterverse, and I may compound my errors by coming in
belatedly to the Percy discussion.
Penny again:
> ....and has no experience whatsoever with psycho-babble
I don't pretend to know much about this archetypal symbolic stuff
either: a little learning is a dangerous thing, but it isn't half fun
making it up as you go along!
Pippin - I'm still wondering about sexuality versus femininity as
what this is all about (if it's about anything at all!).
