Umm, because they didn't name the kids based on the alphabet, that's 
why.  Good grief--why has this theory persisted?  The first child's 
name is William.  Then Charles.  Then Percival.  Then Fred could be 
either Frederick, Alfred, Wilfred or any number of other names 
containing Fred.  George is obviously just George.  Then Ronald.  
Then Virginia.  WCP?GRV doesn't look like the alphabet to me.  JKR 
is pretty clever about names, IMO.  I believe the meanings are the 
important thing and to try to discern some hidden message by 
proposing convoluted theories based on initials is really reaching.  
Particularly when--I'll say it again--the first child's name begins 
with "W."  If JKR were going with the alphabet, Charlie should have 
been named "Xylophone," Percy should have been "Yeti" and the twins 
should have been "Zig" and "Zag" and Molly and Arthur would have 
stopped there.;)
