Yes, but Voldemort was dead-set on killing Harry when he was just a 
little baby. I think that's a very significant fact and one that will 
show its importance in one of the following books. In fact, it 
wouldn't take much to convince me that Harry was Voldemort's primary 
objective that night in Godric's Hollow, and not necessarily James.

We already know that we are going learn more, much more, about Lily 
in the next book. I think that Lily has some ancient heritage that 
combined with James' wizard background meant that Harry was destined 
from birth for very great things, incredible power and it was this 
that Voldemort was out to destroy that night.

Just a theory, though.
